In recent years, rural tourism has emerged as a significant driver of rural revitalization efforts worldwide. As rural areas face economic challenges and population decline, governments and policymakers increasingly turn to tourism development as a means to stimulate local economies, preserve cultural heritage, and improve living standards for rural residents. China, with its vast rural landscapes and rich cultural heritage, stands at the forefront of this trend. Guizhou Province, located in southwest China, represents a compelling case study for examining the effects of rural tourism on rural revitalization. With its diverse ethnic cultures, picturesque landscapes, and burgeoning tourism industry, Guizhou offers a unique opportunity to explore the interplay between tourism development and rural transformation. This thesis aims to investigate the multifaceted impacts of rural tourism on the revitalization of rural communities in Guizhou Province. By employing a case study approach, we seek to understand how tourism initiatives have influenced various aspects of rural life, including economic development, environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, community empowerment, and governance. Through an in-depth analysis of Guizhou's rural tourism landscape, this study seeks to contribute to the growing body of knowledge on the role of tourism in rural revitalization. By examining the successes, challenges, and lessons learned from Guizhou's experience, we hope to provide valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and scholars interested in leveraging tourism as a tool for rural development.
